I was born in the suburbs of Chicago and spent much of my childhood growing up in small-town Iowa, where Midwest values like hard work, humility, and accountability were a part of everyday life. Those early years shaped how I approach both business and relationships—practical, grounded, and always focused on delivering real value.

When it came time for college, I returned to the Midwest and attended Concordia University of Wisconsin, where I majored in Business and Communications. It was there that I discovered my passion for marketing. I still remember my first marketing professor opening class with a simple but powerful idea: marketing is about solving a deprivation—meeting a specific need with a unique product or service. That concept stuck with me and continues to serve as a cornerstone of how I think about marketing today.

I began my career in outside sales, selling software to school districts. That experience was instrumental in shaping my perspective. A mentor once told me, “If you want to be a great executive marketer someday, carry the sales bag for a few years.” That advice proved invaluable. It gave me firsthand insight into the customer, the buying process, and what truly drives decisions—lessons that continue to influence my approach to marketing leadership.

From there, I transitioned into marketing and product management at McGraw-Hill, where I began building the foundation of my career in strategic marketing. I later earned my MBA from The Lake Forest Graduate School of Management, further strengthening my ability to connect marketing strategy with business outcomes.

My career then progressed into executive leadership roles, including serving as Vice President of Marketing and Digital Development at World Book, a Berkshire Hathaway company, and later as Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at Korn Ferry International. Across these roles, I developed a deep passion for leveraging advanced and innovative digital marketing strategies to transform marketing into a true revenue-generating function.
